Dr. Janet Jackson Answers Your Question About Feeding Tips
My cat is leukemia positive. Would like to know what the best food to feed him? Used to feed him dry food but would get sick on a weekly basis, now he gets canned food (which I hate) but he isn't getting sick any more. Is there a dry food that I can try?

There is no specific food for cats suffering from leukemia; however, if your cat is doing better on wet food then I would suggest continue feeding the wet food. Wet foods due to their higher moisture content, are very palatable. These foods work well for cat in sickness, and may help increase their desire to eat.
Just remember, once a can is opened, it needs to be treated with the same care you would provide your own food. Serve the wet food at a time of day when your cat is likely to consume all or most of the food in a reasonable period of time (less than an hour). Also, be sure to refrigerate any unused portions of an open can, as opened cans will have a tendency to spoil, especially during the warm summer months.
